About
Functioning under the aegis of Nirma Education and Research Foundation (NERF) (established in 1994), the university presently includes one of the best engineering schools situated at Sarkhej-Gandhinagar Highway,Ahmedabad-Gujarat - Institute of Technology (1995), a leading business school – Institute of Management (1996), an Institute of Diploma Studies (1997), an Institute of Pharmacy (2003), an emerging Institute of Science (2004), a technology business incubator - NirmaLabs (2004) and an Institute of Law (2007). All these institutions have emerged as centers of excellence offering various programmes ranging from undergraduate to doctoral levels in technology, engineering, business, pharmacy and sciences.

Considering the quality of education being provided, the Government of Gujarat established the Nirma University of Science and Technology under Act No. 10 passed by the Legislative Assembly of the State of Gujarat in April 2003. This development ensured the merging of all Institutes under the NERF into a single entity of Nirma University of Science and Technology. The university has also been recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC) under section 2(f) of the UGC Act.

The Institute of Technology, Nirma University offers Undergraduate as well as Post Graduate-Level Programs

Undergraduate
Institute of Technology, Nirma University offers the B.Tech degree in the following programs:

Chemical Engineering
Civil Engineering
Computer Engineering
Electrical Engineering
Electronics and Communication Engineering
Information Technology
Instrumentation and Control Engineering
Mechanical Engineering

Duration of the degree is Four Years

Post Graduate
The institute has initiated Ph. D. programme in Engg. and Technology in the areas of available faculty expertise. Institute has also recognized qualified experts working in research organizations as research guides. Currently five research scholars have been registered, two in Computer Engineering, one in Instrumentation area, one in VLSI and one in Geo-technical Engineering. A full time Ph. D. programme is likely to commence soon.
