Sathyabama University, Chennai

Sathyabama University is a Private University in Tamil Nadu, India, founded in 1987. It was formerly known as Sathyabama Institute of Science and Technology(SIST) and is pioneered by Jeppiaar Educational Trust. The college is headed by Jeppiaar, a former politician under the late M. G. Ramachandran. The college is reputed for its student placements,discipline and good facilities. It is a Christian Minority Institution.

The Ministry of Human Resources Development declared the college as a Deemed University under section (3) of the UGC Act, on 16 July 2001.

The University, more specifically its Department of Engineering, has a record 334 Tie Ups with various companies including DRDO for conducting various forms of research. Many students who passed out from this University are in respectable positions in companies in India & Abroad.

Accreditation
The college, is Accredited by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council, an autonomous body under the University Grants Commission, New Delhi with B++ Grade (80-85%).

Placement
University Founder Chancellor Dr. Jeppiaar with wife Mrs.RemibaiThe number of students placed has increased dramatically over the years. The college has a very good reputation with respect to its placements.Though 99% of these placements are in IT companies disregarding the branch of learning done in 4 years. Every year, the college manages to get about 99% of its students placed in various companies, with an average salary package of around 3 lacs p.a. Around 1444 students have been placed in this academic year(2007 -08) as on 20-03-2008.

The Institution has 120 buses which are made available to the students and the staff members for commuting not only from various points in the city and also from the suburbs.
